Jr. Asset Manager- Analyst


Basis Investment Group is looking to hire an Jr. Asset Manager/Analyst to join its asset management team.  The candidate will assist the team in monitoring and securitizing commercial real estate (“CRE”) loans.  Basis Investment Group is a New York City based multi-strategy CRE investment platform that originates and securitizes senior mortgages, invests in subordinate debt including mezzanine loans, B-Notes and preferred equity, and opportunistically buys CMBS tranches including B-pieces & performing & distressed whole loans.  Since inception, Basis has closed nearly $2.0 billion in CRE investments and participated in 20 CMBS transactions.  In addition, with 50+ years of collective debt and equity experience, the key members of Basis management team have originated and closed in excess of $30 billion of CRE investments.  Please visit our website (www.basisinvgroup.com) for more information about Basis.


  • Work directly with head of Asset Management and Securitization to manage rapidly growing portfolio of balance sheet debt assets (b-notes, mezzanine and bridge loans, preferred equity and b-piece investments). Assets are secured by all property types (including multi-family, condo, office, retail, industrial, manufactured housing, hotel, self-storage, independent living facilities and land) with loan sizes ranging from $2.5 million to $75 million. This position entails active surveillance and risk monitoring of portfolio holdings including:
  • Collection and review of borrower provided reporting packages
    • Analysis of financial, market and real estate information
    • Regular interaction with borrowers, servicers, and partners
    • Preparation of investor reports
    • Auditing and review of new loans
    • Collection and distribution of monthly loan payments
  • Assist in all aspects of the commercial mortgage securitization process, involving exposure to hundreds of commercial real estate financings secured by all property types in diverse U.S. markets. Synthesis of large amounts of information and direct participation in the sale of CRE loan portfolios. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of asset summary reports and large loan summaries
  • Preparation of various spreadsheets used to aggregate loan and property level data
  • Interaction with buy-side investors and rating agencies
  • Data base oversight


  • Minimum of 4-year college degree in related field
  • 1-3 years of experience with at least 1 year dedicated to underwriting, monitoring and securitizing commercial real estate loans
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work closely with others as well as independently to produce accurate, detailed work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Well-developed analytical skills, along with strong written and oral communication capabilities
  • Advanced  proficiency in Excel
  • Strong time management skills with a respect for deadlines
